Having been stripped of her identity during late May, Boeing 767-319ER MSN26971 had ZK-NCK re-applied and minus titles has concluded exit from Air New Zealand fleet maintenance and departed Auckland 05 July for Alice Springs as ANZ6011. Given its destination it has to be assumed a period of storage is the order of the day and hopefully, in time to come, we'll be able to report on the next chapter of NCK's life.

ZK-NCL is expected to be retired from the Air New Zealand fleet later this month coinciding with the delivery of Boeing 787-9 ZK-NZI. And in other Boeing 767 news, Air New Zealand recently announced the intention to accelerate the retirement of the type from operations with "early 2017" as the target for the three remaining aircraft to bow out of service.

Air New Zealand Boeing 767-319ER ZK-NCK MSN 26971 has been withdrawn from the airline's service as the fleet is slowly wound down. Its last day of flying was 08 May 2016 when it was employed to replace an Airbus A320 routine flying as NZ750 from Auckland to Nadi and returning to Auckland as NZ751.

ZK-NCK first flew on 28 May 1997 and was registered to Air New Zealand on 23 June the same year. It arrived at Auckland from Paine Field, Seattle on 24 June as ANZ6300. Its entry to service was prompt and on 28 June it embarked on its first revenue flight as ANZ89 from Auckland to Brisbane from where it then continued to Bangkok as ANZ71.

Like the other 767's in the fleet during the late 2000's, it was retro fitted with blended winglets and she ferried from Auckland to Hong Kong as ANZ6103 11 July 2009. It emerged from the HAECO hangar and flew to Kansai as ANZ6094 09 August 2009 before making its way home as ANZ98 arriving at Auckland the following day.

it will be interesting to see where this incredibly versatile machine ends up after it completes exit maintenance!
