After exiting the New Zealand market back in 2003, Chicago-based United Airlines has reintroduced services between the United States and New Zealand commencing thrice weekly Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flights from San Francisco and Auckland in conjunction with Star Alliance partner Air New Zealand.
The first flight touched down at Auckland before sunrise 03 July as UA917 with N27908 and like the American Airlines flight departed Auckland early afternoon heading back to San Francisco as UA916.
Flights will operate through Auckland on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday arriving at 0655 and departing at 1320 and from 31 October service will operate daily utilising the larger Boeing 787-9.
United Airlines have a fleet of 717 aircraft with 12 Boeing 787-8 configured with 36 business, 70 premium and 113 economy seats and 16 of the -9 with an additional 7 on order.
As a snapshot, for the week 04-10 July 2016 there will be 41(!) direct flights between Auckland and North America (including Vancouver).
